What is QSFP-DD?QSFP-DD, or QSFP56-DD, stands for Quad Small Form Factor Pluggable Double Density. Based on the design of QSFP, the form factor of QSFP-DD is identical to the previous QSFP+ and QSFP28. Yet it doubles the number of electrical interface lanes to 8 against 4 and provides the highest bandwidth in the QSFP cage system module. Published QSFP-DD transceiver comes with QSFP-DD 200G and QSFP-DD 400G. The maximum speed capacity is due to different modulation technology. QSFP-DD200 supports a total of 200G by each of the 8 channels carrying a 25G data rate with NEZ modulation. With PAM4 modulation, QSFP-DD400 each channel will run at a maximum of 50G to offer a total of 400G data rate.
QSFP-DD800 is the enhanced version of QSFP-DD, with backward compatibility with all QSFP form factors. QSFP-DD800 is the industry's smallest form factor of the 800G module that provides a data rate of 800G.
